On November 30th, 2021, I got on a plane and flew into San Diego, CA and was met at the airport by Dr. Kuri’s driver, Iker. Iker was amazing. He took me for all my PreOp Appointments. He explained EVERYTHING to me and left no stone unturned. If I had questions, he had them covered before I could ask, plus what I didn’t think of.
Of course, JoAnn Jackson, RN, BSN, had already covered all the basis from the initial phone call all the way until I got off the plane. Everything was done and taken care of. I could not have asked for better care from start to finish. The whole process ran like a fine-tuned machine with a lot of care, compassion and TLC.
When I made up my mind that this was what I wanted to do, and I started what I call prepping for this journey and getting my mindset right – I weighed 252 pounds. This was in October of 2021. I did my research and ultimately chose Dr. Kuri because of his reviews and the fact that he and his staff seemed so down to earth and really cared about his patients as a whole and not just another surgery. They want you to succeed and will hold your hand long after you leave Mexico.
JoAnn has always been just a phone call or email away, and full of encouragement and advice – which is a needed part of this journey. My surgery was scheduled for December 1, 2021. At that point I weighed 232 pounds. Today, 1 year later, I am down to 156 pounds. I have about 6 more pounds to reach my goal, but it’s achievable and I will be there before I know it.
This is not an easy journey, but a life long journey with the help of the tool that I have been given by Dr. Kuri and his staff. I could not have asked for a better experience or care. I honestly encourage anyone and everyone considering this to just do it. Gastric Sleeve was the best decision that I have made for myself and my health.
