A bride-to-be who weighed 420lbs looked unrecognizable after losing over 196 lbs after having Gastric Sleeve Surgery and changing her lifestyle before her wedding day. The mother of six weighed 429 lbs at her heaviest back in 2018. She claimed she had an insatiable appetite and addiction to food that drove her to eat over 8,000 calories per day.
Darci H. 33, from Seattle, Washington was having trouble finding a dress to fit her 28-30 size frame. She claims she used to consume two litres of Coca Cola, an entire roll of raw cookie dough, and massive amounts of carbohydrates daily. After losing a close friend, Darci realized she needed to make healthier choices so she could be around for her six children.
Before surgery, Darci changed her heavy carbohydrate and sugar-filled centered diet and started following a ketogenic diet, which focuses on healthy proteins and fats. She lost 50 lbs before surgery and quickly lost over 140 lbs after having Gastric Sleeve Surgery.
Darci was able to easily slip into her dream wedding dress after losing a staggering eight dress sizes and 196 lbs. She reflected “I never thought I would get to wear my dream dress, and that finding it would be so easy. I bought it off the rack and my sister-in-law made one tiny adjustment to one of the sleeves for me, but other than that it fit like a glove.”
Darci remembered constantly feeling run down, exhausted, winded, and anxious about things like if she would fit into a restaurant chair before her surgery when she was at her largest size. She recalled a very embarrassing moment for her which was when a stool collapsed after she stepped on it while attending a fall festival to get on a hay ride with her children.
Darci says, “I would never go back to the way I ate before. I now eat a vegetarian and gluten-free diet, and feel fantastic. I feel better than I ever have in my life. I don’t have to say no to anything because of my size or athletic ability. I run with my kids, I hike with my husband, I swim and play shop and love every single second of my life.”
