Sara from Washington, D.C. is almost unrecognizable after losing over 140 lbs after having Gastric Sleeve Surgery. The mother of two weighed 252 lbs before surgery.
Sara admits to lifelong bad eating habits and says she gained a lot of weight that she struggled to lose after her pregnancies. “I was suffering from various medical conditions such as preeclampsia and gestational diabetes, and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). I also had a poor diet and would bing eat in the evenings. “I felt horrible. I didn’t like going out in public with my husband, Prince, 30, and kids, Amelia, four, and Roman, two.
Sara tried many diets and exercise programs unsuccessfully prior to surgery. “I had mixed feelings about the surgery. I was so excited but I knew it would also be a mental challenge and journey where I had to work on balancing my lifestyle and my relationship with food.”
Sara underwent Gastric Sleeve Surgery in September of 2021. “After surgery, I had to start with a liquid diet before moving on to a soft food diet while I adjusted to my new stomach. The weight started coming off and it was really encouraging, but I started seeing massive changes when I began working out six weeks after my surgery.”
“My goal weight was around 154 lbs, but I managed to surpass that. I am now 116 lbs, which is incredible. I’ve done better than I ever expected myself to do. I feel better than I have ever felt. “
After years of hiding in baggy t-shirts and leggings, Sara is loving exploring her fashion sense by trying different kinds of clothes. “ I have regained my confidence and feel like I have my life back. I feel and look better than ever before.”
